Amanda Hough is a portrait and nature photographer and enjoys capturing moments, people, and places.

Amanda Hough is a portrait and nature photographer from Boone, North Carolina, whose work centers on presence, place, and quiet moments of connection. Amanda is drawn to people and landscapes alike, capturing images that feel lived-in, honest, and attentive to light and texture.

Amanda shoots on both digital and film, working with a Canon Rebel T3 alongside a collection of vintage cameras including a Pentax K1000, Iloca Aut-O-Matic, and Holga 120N. Amanda’s work is shaped through a deeply personal tool: a hand-me-down Asahi Pentax 135mm lens that once belonged to her grandfather, grounding her practice in lineage, memory, and care.

She spent several years living in Denver, Colorado, while her wife completed a master’s degree in Art History at the University of Colorado Boulder. These years further influenced her love of hiking, the outdoors, and expansive natural landscapes. Whether photographing along a trail or in an intimate portrait setting, Amanda brings the same steady curiosity and respect to her subjects.

A proud member of the LGBTQ+ community, Amanda strives to create a welcoming and comfortable environment for people of all identities and backgrounds, believing that the best images are made when everyone feels safe, seen, and at ease.
